TOKIO HOTEL




Tokio Hotel is a german band founded in Magdeburg, Germany in 2001 by guitarist Tom Kaulitz, singer Bill Kaulitz drummer Gustav Schäfer, and bassist Georg Listing.

Their History

In 2001, the twin brothers Bill and Tom meet Gustav on a concert in Magdeburg and he introduce to Bill and Tom his friend Georg. Together they form a group, the Devilish. Under the name Devilish, the band soon began playing in talent shows and small concerts. After Bill Kaulitz's participation in a children's Star Search in 2003 at age thirteen and he was discovered by music producer Peter Hoffmann. Devilish changed their name to Tokio Hotel: "Tokio", the German language spelling of the city Tokyo, Japan due to a love of the city and "Hotel", due to their constant touring and living in hotels. The band has now become one of the biggest acts from Germany.

Schrei

Their first single, "Durch den Monsun" ("Through the Monsoon"), quickly rose in the German and Austrian charts. the album later received a platinum certification.

Zimmer 483

Zimmer 483 was released on 28 February 2007, with a deluxe edition of the album, containing a DVD, also becoming available.

The tour accompanying the release of the album, the Zimmer 483 tour, started in April 2007. At the end of 2007, the band relased a DVD, Zimmer 483 - Live in Europe. It contains a live and a documentary of the tour.


Scream

Tokio Hotel's first English album Scream was released on the 4 June 2007 in all of Europe. It contains English versions of a selection of songs from their German-language albums Schrei and Zimmer 483.

Tokio Hotel won an EMA(Europe Music Awards) for Best InterAct on 1 November 2007 and were also nominated for Best Band. They also performed "Monsoon" at the event.

Tokio Hotel relased their first album in America on late 2007.

1000 Hotels Tour

The "1000 Hotels Tour" European Tour began on 3 March 2008 and finish on the 9 April 2008. On March 14th, during the concert in Marseille, France, Bill started to experience vocal problems. Bill Kaulitz had been putting strain on his voice after playing 43 concerts in the 1000 Hotels tour without vacation. On March 16th the band deleted the rest of the European and American tour becouse Bill Kaulitz had to undergo surgery to remove a cyst on his vocal cords. After the surgey, Tokio Hotel rebuke the tour after two weeks of Bill's complete silence and two months of vocal rehabilitation.
